Short Link:

Background Data and Auto Sync:

Disable the background data and auto sync options to conserve battery as running network processes consume substantial amount of battery over EDGE or 3G connections. This can be done by disabling the ‘Background Data’ option in ‘Accounts and sync’ menu of Settings.

However, sometimes you want sync to be active. In such cases, you can trim the autosync interval from the menu options when the app is open.

GPS radio:
Turn off the GPS radio unless absolutely necessary. You can do this by deselecting the Use GPS Satelites from Location settings.
Wi-Fi notifications:
GPS on/off Toggle
When within Wi-Fi range, Android, by default, notifies you of available networks in the notification area. Turn off Wi-Fi notifications from wireless and networks settings.
Animations:
Animation settings
Live wallpapers and menu animations drain battery life. You can disable or limit these by choosing between No Animations, Some Animations or All Animations from the Animation settings in SOund adn Display (or Display in Froyo and newer versions).
